Understanding the Data Layers of the WWAT Map Interface
The Data Layer Box is located on the bottom left corner of the map interface. This box contains all of the data layers that can be displayed on the map. There are eight data layers available for display.
Roads: Displays all major roadways within the area. State Roads: Displays all state highways within the area. Existing Wells: Displays the location of all wells within the area. Streams: Displays all of the streams for a given area. Lakes: Displays major lakes for a given area. Watersheds: Displays the watershed for a given area. Sections: Displays Town Range and Section Boundaries for a given area. County: Displays the counties for the state of Michigan. Manipulating the Data Layers Each time you turn a layer on or off the map will automatically reload to display the updated changes. If you don’t want the map to reload every time, you can turn off the auto refresh option. To do this, uncheck the auto refresh box located at the bottom of the Data Layers Box. To refresh the map with your changes, click the “Refresh Map” button. Working With the Data Layers: To display a data layer on the map, click the small box to the left of that layer. A check mark will appear in the box indicating that that layer is now displayed. Uncheck the box if you want to turn the layer off again. To activate a data layer, click once on its name. The little bubble to the left of that layer will now be dark and you will see a message under the display map telling you that the layer is active. If you are having trouble understanding how to operate the data layers, please refer to the Data Layer Help link located at the bottom of the Data Layer Box. |
